Meet Angela Sanina

Founder & Creative Director of Babina Creative Studio

Angela Sanina is an artist, designer, dressmaker, photographer, and filmmaker with a strong multidisciplinary background rooted in making, storytelling, and craft. She holds an Honours Degree in Fine Art, a Degree in Fashion Design, and a QQI Level 5 Certificate in Media Production. Her creative practice spans fashion design, fine art, sculpture, photography, and filmmaking, with sewing, design, and styling at its core.

Driven by a deep passion for creativity and a commitment to craftsmanship, Angela has established Babina Creative Studio, a creative space that brings together art, fashion, and sustainable design. The studio showcases her work while also serving as a hands-on learning environment where individuals can develop practical skills through workshops and classes.

In her workshops, Angela teaches the foundational skills of sewing and pattern making, empowering students to create, alter, and repair garments from scratch. A central focus of her teaching is upcycling - reworking, restoring, and restyling existing clothing to give it new life. Her approach is rooted in sustainability, creativity, and resourcefulness, encouraging individuals to reduce waste while developing their own personal style.

Another key element of Angela’s practice is the integration of art and photography into fashion. Participants are introduced to techniques such as hand-painting directly onto fabric and incorporating photographic imagery into garments, transforming everyday clothing into one-of-a-kind pieces of wearable art.

Community and creative growth are central to Angela’s vision. She plans to host an annual Student Showcase, celebrating the work created during workshops and providing participants with an opportunity to present their upcycled garments, hand-painted designs, and custom alterations. This event will also highlight the creative potential of sustainable fashion within the wider community.

Diversity and inclusivity are fundamental to Angela’s practice. In addition to her technical expertise, she speaks five languages, Moldovan, Russian, Ukrainian, Romanian, and English, and is currently learning Italian. This allows her to connect with people from a wide range of backgrounds and create a welcoming, supportive environment where everyone feels valued and heard.

Angela’s goal is to build a creative community where individuals of all skill levels can come together to learn, experiment, and express themselves through fashion and art. By teaching practical skills alongside sustainability and cultural appreciation, she aims to inspire more thoughtful, creative, and conscious approaches to clothing and self-expression.
