Our Story
Babina Creative Studio is inspired by my grandmother, Grunia Babina, whose hands and imagination shaped everything she touched. She was not only a seamstress, but an artist and visionary who saw potential in every material. Grunia crafted pillows from chicken feathers, duvets from sheep’s wool, and socks from hand-dyed yarn she coloured herself using plants and roots from nature. Her philosophy was simple and powerful: nothing should go to waste, and everything deserves a second life.
That legacy lives on at Babina Creative Studio. Here, we help people reconnect with their wardrobes and unlock their creative potential through hands-on workshops. Instead of discarding old clothing or constantly buying new, we teach practical and creative ways to transform what you already own. From turning an old t-shirt into a modern top, reshaping jeans into a skirt, or creating something entirely new from forgotten fabrics, we provide the tools, skills, and guidance to bring ideas to life.
Alongside modern design approaches, we share traditional skills passed down through generations, including hand-dyeing fabrics with natural dyes, repairing garments, and embracing the principles of circular fashion. These timeless techniques allow participants to create pieces that are not only beautiful but also respectful of the planet.
Babina Creative Studio is more than a workspace, it is a community. A place for like-minded people who value creativity, sustainability, and the beauty of handcrafted work. Our workshops offer a welcoming space to explore personal style, build sewing skills, and create something meaningful. Every piece made here carries intention, individuality, and care, just as Grunia Babina put into everything she created by hand.
